The Founder

During his 2021 summer holiday, a then 14 year old Khan Odita decided to do something different with his time – combat the flytipping on his street.

The first week in he decided on the name, Mulgrave Street Action Group, and an idea; a community garden. With a passion for videography he began documenting how big of an issue a specific piece of land is on Mulgrave Street had become to the area, interviewing neighbours and L8 residents – this mini documentary can be viewed here.

Khan then began organising community cleanup days; periodically hiring skips for locals responsible disposal of their large rubbish and litter picking with volunteers. Within those 6 weeks he was interviewed by BBC North West Tonight, Radio Mersyside and ITV Granada Reports.

He is also a childrens author, having so far written two childrens books which Khan regularly sells at the Granby Market, L8, to fund MSAG projects’.

Our Aims

Beutifying streets

We are making L8 a better place to live, through using our greenspaces for colour and biodiversity, managing flytipping with free skip days, and organising consistent litter picks to keep the community clean.

Community Cohesion

We live in a time of great social disconnect, whether it be between age ranges or cultures. MSAG unites the diverse communities of Toxteth for the cause of good through our many projects and activities which bring people together.

Balancing inequality

No area should suffer flytipping. No area should suffer neglect. No area should have a lower life expectancy. We are the community and we are balancing the hand dealt to us by running projects to manage flytipping, improve health outcomes and increase quality of life in L8
