Today was an astounding day, one we couldn’t have seen coming!

Stuart Andrew MP, Minister for Civil Society paid us a visit at UrbanScape. Founder Khan and Director Natasha showed him around the space having a good talk about community cohesion; after he presented Khan with the #2035 Point Of Light Award!

The POL award comes directly from the Prime Minister and is given daily across the UK to volunteers and charities.

In a personal letter to Khan, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said:

I was inspired to hear how you founded ‘Mulgrave Street Action Group’ while studying for your GCSEs. Over two years you have transformed a fly-tipped area into a bright, open, green space for everyone to enjoy. The ‘UrbanScape’ garden is now a place where young people can come after school and during the holidays and gain new skills through your food-growing projects.

It takes true community spirit – and true determination – to make such a difference.

Khan accepted the award on behalf of MSAG and the weather held off long enough for a celebratory photo.

Amazing things happen when you do good!

What we do

Beutifying streets

We are steadily reimagining Mulgrave and adjacent areas across L8. Through planters, wildflowers, flower bulbs and litter picks our home can become more welcoming to outsiders and ourselves.

Community Cohesion

We live in a time of great social disconnect, whether it be between age ranges or cultures. MSAG unites the diverse communities of Toxteth for the cause of good through our many projects and activities which bring people together.

Community skip hiring

We all have a cupboard full of things we want gone - but flytipping is not the way to do it. We consistently organise community skip days to provide an accessible way of disposing of rubbish without impacting the area.

UrbanScape

UrbanScape was the first, pioneering, project of MSAG. A previous flytip hotspot is now a multipurpose modern-greenspace, a centrepiece of regeneration and community ownership in Toxteth.
