After our Flood The Streets with flowers project beginning in October 2022, we caught up on the progress of some of the planters. They have been thoroughly filled with soil and planted up with maram grass, ivy, small leafy bushes and most importantly, flower bouquets. We also placed flower bulbs in each of them which will bloom a variety of colours next year, indefinitely, from early spring to late summer. Speaking of bulbs, huge thank you to all the volunteers who turned out on the day to lend a hand and plant a bulb – we covered 4 greenspaces across the local area including the Methodist centre adjacent to Princes Boulevard, big thanks to Jeremy for putting in a big graft too. The Mersyside police popped down to lend a hand with two officers taking their time to help some of the children use their bulb planting tools as volunteers from Al Rahma Mosque lifted the heavy planters to their final places. Patrick Graham of the Liverpool Echo showed up – interviewing volunteers, taking snaps and lending a hand himself. Also big thanks to Joe Farrag, and Maxine Deen for their help on the day.
We might be a bit biased but the event was a total success and the postitive response from residents and pedestrians alike is testament to that.
Thanks all!
